San Rafael man named executive director of Raphael House in San Francisco – Marin Independent Journal


Benjamin Aune of San Rafael has been appointed as the executive director for Raphael House of San Francisco.

Benjamin Aune, of San Rafael, has been appointed as the executive director for Raphael House of San Francisco — a nonprofit shelter and services program that provides short-term housing, rental assistance, and ongoing supportive services to Bay Area families experiencing or at risk for homelessness.

Aune was previously president and CEO of Operation Access, a nonprofit that arranges donated outpatient surgical procedures for low-income, uninsured patients throughout the Bay Area. He served as executive vice president of the Benedictine Health System and was president and CEO of InterHealth. He was corporate director of health systems for Honeywell, Inc. and was executive director of the Governor’s Council on Health Promotion and Wellness for Minnesota.

Aune also taught for several years in the mission field of Papua New Guinea, spent six years at a junior high school directing a work experience program and directed a residential group home for at-risk adolescents. He will be the fourth executive director to lead Raphael House, replacing Amanda Heier, who resigned to assume the position of executive director for the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation.

Zephyr Real Estate, San Francisco’s largest independent real estate firm, has appointed Erinn Millar as sales manager for its new Marin County office, scheduled to open soon at the Bon Air Center in Greenbrae.

Millar, a Marin native, has been involved in Marin real estate since 2003. After earning her bachelor’s degree at UC Davis and the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, Millar graduated from the Sacramento Entrepreneurship Academy. She then served as a director for Score Educational Centers. She began her career in real estate with Taylor Woodrow Homes, and later worked with Frank Howard Allen. She spent 12 years at Bradley Real Estate.

Tim Russell, from Valley Oak Wealth Management in Novato, recently attended the Masters 2015 conference, an event recognizing the top performing advisers at LPL Financial LLC, one of the nation’s largest independent brokers.

Masters 2015 provided an educational forum for qualifying advisers and included presentations from LPL leaders and strategic partners. The event provided advisers an opportunity to network and share ideas with their peers.

Sausalito-based Breakaway Funding, an online crowdfunding platform for companies raising debt and equity financing from accredited investors, has appointed veteran banking executive John Connelly to the newly created position of director of community capital. Connelly was previously at SAFE-BIDCO where he was a loan consultant for non-traditional lending sources for small businesses. A graduate of San Diego State University, Connelly also worked on the transition team for the Bank of America and Nations merger and at the Novato-based Circle Bank.

San Rafael-based Worldwise, a natural pet products company, has promoted 10-year company veteran Jeff Leh to vice president of sales.

Over the years, Leh has achieved great success in developing new channels of business, creating strategic relationships with key customers and promoting a corporate culture based on trust and creativity.

The Preventive Medical Center of Marin has relocated to a new office space at 4340 Redwood Highway, Suite A-22 in San Rafael.

The center is directed by Dr. Elson M. Haas, who established the practice in 1984 with a focus on the best of natural, Eastern and Western medicines. The new facility has had more than $120,000 in building improvements.

Tony Probst, of Novato, held a grand opening celebration for Audio Video Integration at 647 Francisco Blvd. East in San Rafael Thursday.

The business has a 6,000-square-foot showroom, and designs and installs movie theaters, sound systems and surveillance systems in homes.
